I have never managed to understand why people who generate billions and trillions find it difficult to pay workers a few thousands in salary.

They find salary increment difficult and even owe the little their workers are entitled to.

What causes this attitude bikonunu?
Odidigboigbo(m): 11:40am On Jun 13
I'm not in of any protest in a working place, if you are not satisfied with any job, quietly look for another job and resign.

while is painful we need to face the fact the company cannot pay what it cannot afford.
Bestwt001: 11:56am On Jun 13
This is heartbreaking and unjust! No worker should be punished for standing up for their basic rights and dignity. How can a company operating in Nigeria treat its own citizens like this — especially during tough economic times when transport costs and living expenses are skyrocketing? It’s even worse that they were sacked right after management increased the allowance, showing the protest was justified. Authorities and labour unions need to step in immediately! Nigerians are not slaves! 😡✊🏾

Chinese and Lebanese companies are modern day slavery for Nigeria worker's.
Many of them are not in pension, HMO and no pay off benefit.
Some even assault Nigerians physically and nothing is done.
Blame the Ministry of Labor and TUC AND NLC.

Those Chagoury workers are always angry and in a protesting mood. I used to see them when I worked in Victoria Island. Chagoury must be doing something wrong.

Sahara reporter is right. They are contract staffs. iTB and Hi-Tech pay their staffs' well.

Staff not staffs. And so what if they pay their direct hires well? Contractors don’t deserve to earn a living wage? When you people defend, you people should be empathetic for Chrissake! Not every criticism is targeted at your principal. Later we complain they Buhari picked a Nigerien ahead of a Nigerian in ing diplomatic position in his military days

A Nigerian company should just absorb all the sacked staffs…I will just advise anyone that before you challenge your employer, get another job first cos no other employer will employ you once they know you were sacked from somewhere for challenging your former employer.

Boils down to no, slow or bad justice system. If there were laws and the same efficiently enforce, no such employers would dare without paying avoidable consequences.

nooo they should kukuma share the whole money they earned amongst the whole workers and close down the coy so everyone can be happy nah. 2daily is enough for any worker or are you living in another state? Do you know the running cost of a company, an engineering one that hardly secures contracts if not for their close friendship with tinubu. Other coys without contracts am sure the workers will enjoy their daily siesta. In as much as i respect workers rights but unless u own a company and have budget for maintenance and ads, you won’t understand.

My running costs per month gross over 500k, which without spending it how will business come but my 9-5 don’t care all they want to know is where their pay alert at.

If they don't like the role, they should quit. That's capitalism. He is only at fault if he pays below minimum wage. Working on public holidays is a choice. Bank workers work on public holidays. Policemen work on public holidays. You can't by yourself enter into an agreement to work with a Lebanese and then complain of poor working conditions. Go to a place with better working condition and apply.

It isn't slavery. They have a choice. They can work for better employers if this one doesn't favour them.

Ridiculous statement...He is an investor. He runs a business. So Nigerians do not fire local workers abroad, abi? This is a private business. Some of these protests are politically motivated. If you have issues with the amount, organize and meet with the company heads. Protesting is trying to cause major unrest. Letting them go is the best thing for the workers...they can go and find jobs somewhere else where they can make more money. Is that not a blessing? grin grin grin

Dalohad:
Arabs are very autocratic and do not like to be challenged..

The workers should take that Lebanese kleptomaniac to court.

You are Lebanese, making billions of dollars from Nigerians, yet you are sacking Nigerian workers.

Can Trump tolerate that if you do it Americans? Can Arabs tolerate that if an African does that in the middle east?
seborrhic: 2:48pm On Jun 13
I don't understand.
So the transport allowance alone per month is around 50k?
Means no worker in Chagoury earns less than 200k when you add basic, housing allowance
OgbeniOja1: 3:12pm On Jun 13
sadly it it's true. it would shock you the insane treatment workers there get. sadly being a friend of the president the firm is not afraid of sanctions by govt agencies.
