Going through that road was an ordeal on wednesday, my people tried , at a point our convoy had to start beating most of the one way followers before sanity was restored. Why are Nigerians just so stubborn? 2 Likes |

And some people will be comparing this man with Amosun. This man doesn't care, all he knows is giving unfulfilled promises. Almost every roads in Abeokuta has potholes. In fact, there is even one that claimed lives of people sometimes last year, the attention of this government was drawn to it, nothing was done. It was some people that filled this large portion with granites that made it fair. To even think that this Government is getting more allocation than his predecessors with nothing to show for it is something else

Those who seem to have the worst opinions about Alex Otti and his infrastructural transformation of Abia state are always surprisingly quiet about the malistration of Ogun state which is the height of shameless hypocrisy ![]() 1 Like |

If Eleyi of Ogun State achieved half of what his predecessor accomplished in infrastructure during his first term, he would be ed as a performer.

Mynd44:how much are the equipments and how much have some of the poorest states in Nigeria spent on government house, airport constructions or some other irrelevant projects ? Even if this your excuse holds water, it can never be for a rich state like Ogun that should be benefitting massively just from its proximity to Lagos. Stop making excuses for your oppressors 1 Like |

Mynd44: Gibberish! States do not have the funds to allocate to emergency situations? Then why do we have government at the state level? What stops Ogun State from having emergency response points along the expressway, even if people will be made to pay for it. It is widely known that this often occur along that road so provisions should have been made to intervene in times like this. I can't the last time people were allowed to sleep on the road in Lagos (I don't think it has ever happened) as a result of things like this because there are state agencies to handle that. It is always a problem whenever things of this nature happens on that same expressway within Ogun territory. The one that happened on Kara bridge on a Sunday sometime ago delayed motorists from around 6am till about 6pm until intervention came from Lagos State just because it has affected them. People were finding it difficult to move out of Lagos and the entire traffic in Lagos was messed up. 1 Like |

Mynd44:Succinctly stated. Lagos State is a leader in that aspect of being up to date with the acquisition of modern heavy cranes and rescue equipment. Some posters here are just huffing and puffing while criticizing Prince Dapo Abiodun and Ogun State BUT does Ogun State currently have the same cash flow or financial muscle that Lagos State or Rivers State have? On the other hand, Ogun State can partner with Lagos State to deploy their rescue equipment whenever urgently needed on that road. Ultimately, since the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is a Federal Government road, a PPP system can be put in place to ensure that these heavy rescue equipment are made available on and that would require tolling for sustainability. The removal of the toll gates by former President Obasanjo was the beginning of the degeneration of Nigerian Federal roads down the years. Worldwide, important roads get tolled to ensure long-term maintenance. Ogun State must speed up the exploration of her bitumen deposits within the "bitumen belt" (which is the 2nd largest bitumen reserve in the world after that of Canada, extending from Lagos, Ogun Ondo and Edo States. The bitumen reserves in Nigeria is in FACT more than the oil reserves in Nigeria) including the Ogun State oil and gas deposits onshore and offshore in order to be able to flex muscles and purchase accident and rescue equipment like Lagos State. |

Konquest:You're just making excuses for the incompetent government of Dapo Abiodun. What stops him from doing all these things you've stated above or even copying from other states like Lagos. Mind you this guy has spend over 6 years in office and Ogun state is still like that. You will say he doesn't have enough funds, but there are states that has less funds that his but are doing far better. It's just unfortunate. |
Konquest: 3:48pm On Jun 13 |
Ecanenar:I'm NOT making absolute excuses for him, just offering constructive criticisms and I provided "sustainable solutions" as well. I detest it when some people just criticize others online and offline during TV or radio phone-in programs to defame and throw insults at the technocrats and political office holders while FAILING to give sustainable solutions themselves which I've simply done here. Tbh though, Ogun State has been a significant underachiever over the years but the geopolitical dynamics between that state and any other state are completely different so we cannot use the economic parameters of one State to judge another. So, Gov. Dapo and his Commissioners have to double up and take charge of how to deploy CNG infrastructure in Ogun State since he himself is an oil and gas mogul and owner of Heyden in order to drop the cost of transportation and food prices. While I must comment Dapo on the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport construction in Iperu-Remo, he has to make use of the Ogun State bitumen resource and even limestones reserves turned to cement to tar the roads through his Commissioners who are infact the ones to implement these things. Lagos State is ALSO currently building the Epe Central Agric Logistics Hub which is gonna be the largest in Africa to lower the price of food by 50% in Lagos under the watch of the Commissioner of Agriculture Ms Olusanya who announced this in May 2025. Lagos already has an Agric Food Hub in Idi-Oro Mushin where food items are sold straight from the farms at 25% lower than the current costs. Ogun State can copy this same model as well. So, you need highly imaginative Governors and State Commissioners (who are positively angry and disgusted at being classified or seen as significant underachievers over the years) in order to develop economically and socially using disruptive strategies. I just think Dapo Abiodun and his team of advisers and Commissioners do NOT have that sustainable sense of urgency yet. Even Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu should have released the CNG buses he promised by now (and even since 2023) if he has a sense of urgency in order to lower the cost of transportation and more but they are still stalling and pussyfooting despite the launch by NNPCL of some CNG fuel stations in Lagos. Having a sense of urgency usually triggers creativity and when funds (loans or cash at hand) are added in the mix, you become truly unstoppable. Last but not least, Dr. Kayode Opeifa (the former Commissioner of Transportation in Lagos State) who is now the current boss of NRC said the trains are gonna be refitted with CNG-FUELED convertions, so this would ALSO CLEARLY lower the cost of operations for the Nigerian Railway Corporation by 70% and improve goods haulage and transportation of people and hence reduce the pressures and accidents on the roads such as the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, etc. 1] Nigerian Railways to transition trains to CNG – MD - FRCN HQ =>https://radionigeria.gov.ng/2025/06/11/nigerian-railways-to-transition-trains-to-cng-md/ 2] NRC Reinforces Commitment To Inclusive Transport Service https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5-O0pLhO5A?si=W51MhIySOgjuLhVp TVC News Nigeria · June 2 2025 3] CNG trains will slash costs, boost economy, says Opeifa =>https://thenationonlineng.net/cng-trains-will-slash-costs-boost-economy-says-opeifa/ 4] CNG to reduce railway maintenance cost by 70% — Opeifa =>https://tribuneonlineng.com/cng-to-reduce-railway-maintenance-cost-by-70-opeifa/ That's the whole thrust of my points here. |
