“While it is wise to learn from experience, it is wiser to learn from the experiences of others.”- Rick Warren

Let us learn from these three individuals:

Alex worked as a junior ant for a firm on the island . As a youth, he was interested in technology to develop software solutions that would improve people's lives. But then, he was afraid to transition.

He said “ I was just going to waste my time and energy and would probably not learn anything by the end of the 3 months, because people usually say tech is hard, but Moat Academy changed that.”

He currently works as a Senior Software Engineer at Scam AI, a platform for detecting deepfakes, speech clones, and AI-powered scams.

Sunkanmi resigned from his position as a field engineer at Remote Monitoring Solution Company to pursue a career in technology. Then his fear surfaced.

He said, “My biggest fear was the complexity and difficulty attached to learning programming languages. I did not believe I would be able to understand programming and web development in that short space of time.”

Sunkanmi is currently employed in the UK at Hottinger Bruel & Kjaer (HBK) as a Software Engineer. The business serves a variety of industries, including defense, energy, and aerospace.

Mariam was a graduate who was job hunting and preparing for interviews when her aunt advised she go into software development. Then she developed a dream of becoming one of the best female software developers in the world, but along came this fear. According to her:

“My biggest fear was if I can ever be able to understand programming and the fear pushed me away from actually studying computer science in Uni. How I feel now? I am ready to go at any length to become the best in software development”

Undeterred, Mariam pursued her dream. Today, she works as a Senior Application Engineer at Sourcegraph, a complete AI Software Development Life Cycle platform headquartered at Silicon Valley, USA.

Aside from their status as elite professionals, these three individuals have four things in common:

1. They have dreams: They yearned for change and a better future. You should have big dreams too!

Dream big, because dreams come true.” Alex Morgan

2. They overcame fear: Resistance comes after a dream. It takes numerous forms, including self-doubt, fear, procrastination, perfectionism, and self-sabotage. You should not allow fear to hold you back.

“If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough.” - Muhammad Ali

3. They are committed to their dream, investing time and resources for success. What separates an amateur from a professional is commitment!

"If you don't sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice"—Anonymous

4. They all graduated from Moat Academy: Yes, their journey began at Moat Academy where an environment has been developed to encourage rapid growth and excellent performance in order for participants to become remarkable developers.
